Cheer Up America!! Bumper Sticker Religion Will Save Us!

 

            While “God Bless America” seems to be the most well known bumper sticker there are others such as “Honk if you love Jesus,” “My Boss Is a Jewish Carpenter;” and “God is my co-pilot” imagine that God can be my assistant, but I’m in charge. Religious T – shirts are popular too. One young woman came into a restaurant in skimpy tattered shorts and a low necked T- shirt with Phil 4:13 printed on the back “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” What a farce! This woman’s supposed relationship with Christ could not provide her with the power to dress decently in public, but few today are spiritual enough to see such religious sham and most don’t seem to care.

            Psalms 1:1-6 reads “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful buthis delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night... and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” In Matt 15:7 and 8 Jesus, addressing the religious Pharisees, said, “Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying this people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.” This scripture makes clear a very simple truth which the bumper sticker religionists seem unable or unwilling to grasp. That is, words, prayers, and religious activity not produced by the Holy Spirit’s influence to surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord, are worthless. As you read the following list of America’s national sins against the Bibl`e, be honest and ask yourself if present America should expect His blessings or His wrath.

            In “Christian” America legalized baby killers have murdered millions of babies since the infamous court ruling of Roe Vs Wade. This wanton destruction of little innocent people has not gone unseen by God.

 Irrational and perhaps atheistic courts and legislators of our nation have abused free speech and invented political correctness. This produces practical insanity,  giving people the “right” to do and say anything, except publicly mention the name Jesus. However, they will allow us a moment of silence which is nothing short of blasphemy since it is designed not to offend those who hate Him. Can you imagine how God must feel about those who pretend to love Him, while refusing to use His name publicly for fear of offending those who despise Him?

             America has sought to make respectful the sin of Sodomy. And pragmatic, loving, preachers have stayed quiet about the sin of fornication until one out of three babies born in America are born out of wedlock.

  To satisfy their appetite for entertainment, Americans have elevated movie stars and sports personalities to a point of shrines and worship. This nation has made heroes and idols of many who are purveyors of immorality.

 Many of today’s political, educational, civic, and religious leaders are the baby boomers of the sixties who were flag burning, coke sniffing, free loving hippies who never found their way back out of the fog of the “new morality” to an orderly and godly society. While in college, they were taught to rebel against authority, injure their brain with drugs, cripple their conscience with deviant life styles, burn our flag, insult our soldiers, and aid our national enemies. They blew out their ear drums and brain washed their mind of decency and self respect by listening to loud and immoral racket they called music. They wore long dirty hair, ragged blue jeans, and waved signs saying “Peace”, “Jesus Rocks”, or “what would Jesus do?” The answer to that question might shock them. Read it in Matt 23:33 “Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?” We can thank them for today’s youth seen shuffling through the malls with their pants hanging to their knees; and their underwear showing. To be fair, I need to point out that some do use one hand to hold them up, but most just moon everybody. They put rings in their nose, eye lids, lips, and tongue. They desecrate their bodies with vulgar tattoos. They smoke pot, produce illegitimate children, and avoid work at all cost. They delight in being loud, obstinate, and disrespectful, but have learned to use religion to gain sympathy and approval from those who are religious but biblically ignorant. They proudly flaunt their trashy life style as being “cool.” If you know your Bible you will understand that they are definitely going to need some cool where they are going. If anyone out there is listening and still cares read II Pet 3:10-12, Ps 9:17, and Pr 1:22-26. Pray and draw near to God and obey His word. It may very well be too late for America as a nation to avoid His judgment. However, He assures us that those who repent can still receive His mercy.
